Pro Bono
Our commitment to access to justice.
In short. SmartLaw. is open to pro bono work. If you or your organization need legal advice and cannot afford it, tell us about your case by email or phone and we will review it.
Why we do it
We believe access to good legal advice should not depend on being able to pay for it. That is why we dedicate part of our time to pro bono cases: free legal advice for people and organizations that need it and cannot afford it.
Where we can contribute most
Our core practices, Corporate and Commercial Law and LegalTech, mainly serve businesses, so they sometimes lend themselves less to pro bono work. Wealth Planning does: a well-drafted will, an orderly succession or protecting the family home can change a family's situation.
We also take pro bono cases in other practice areas when we can make a real difference. We assess each case based on its nature, its impact and our availability at the time.
How it works
- Email or call us with a brief description of your case and why you are seeking pro bono support.
- We review it and let you know whether we can take it. If we cannot, we will try to point you to someone who can help.
- If we take it, we confirm it in writing and handle it with the same care and confidentiality as any other matter at the firm.
Reviewing a case does not mean we will take it: the attorney-client relationship begins when we accept the engagement in writing. A general description is enough for your first message; please do not send documents or confidential information until we ask for them.
